2011 Open Source Competition begins at March 2011 and the closing date for the competition is 5th May,2011.

*No entrance fee required.
Participants are required to implement a system using open source technology. The implementation should include analysis, design, development and deployment.The following components from the Open Source Community may be used:
3.1.1. Web and/ or application server
3.1.2. Database server
3.1.3. Web-based database tool
3.1.4. Versioning system
3.1.5. LDAP server
3.1.6. SMS gateway
3.2. The deployment of any of the above components must not have dependencies on any commercial products.
3.3. Any other open source technology can be used,where applicable.
3.4. Participants must make use of software(either readymade or created by the participant), to produce a workable solution. The usage of open source software should be clearly stated in the documentation.
3.5. Any APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) used must be non-proprietary and not belonging to any commercial product.

All participants will be given approximately 2 months (March 2011 – 5th May 2011) to implement (analysis, design, development and deployment) their solutions.

5.2.3. Description of the system, and its values to the intended audience (300 words max)
5.2.4. Solution Architecture (500 words max)
5.2.5. Functionalities and features, and their innovativeness and uniqueness (1,000 words max)
5.2.6. Future enhancements (if any) (300 words max)
5.2.7. Potential (300 words max)
5.2.8. References/Notes (300 words max)

7.3. Project Demonstration/ Presentation
7.3.1. If necessary, participants might be called to present their project to the evaluation panel at SAINS' Kuching office.
7.4. All participating entries shall be presented with a Certificate of Participation.
